NMMA Participates in the Inaugural Arkansas Natural State Day at the Capitol, Highlighting the Significant Impact of the Boating Industry on the Economy
In early February, NMMA participated in the inaugural Arkansas Natural State Day at the Capitol, a landmark event that celebrated the state's rich tradition of outdoor recreation. The event highlighted the state's vibrant recreational heritage while showcasing the businesses that play a pivotal role in fostering this culture. Vendors and attendees had the opportunity to interact with state legislators and regulators, offering insight into the stories behind their companies and the contributions they make to the state’s economy.
Arkansas Governor Sarah Huckabee Sanders delivered a keynote address, underscoring the importance of sustaining and growing the state's outdoor recreation economy. This sector generates an impressive $4.5 billion in economic impact annually and provides nearly 41,000 jobs across the state.
Marine industry representatives seized this opportunity to engage with legislators, discussing the need for ongoing workforce development to support the 11,840 jobs and more than 300 businesses that the marine sector sustains in Arkansas. NMMA members also highlighted the significant $3.3 billion annual economic contribution the marine industry makes to the state, further emphasizing the importance of the sector to Arkansas’s economy.
“The inaugural Natural State Day at the Capitol highlighted the significant impact of the boating industry on Arkansas's economy," said Jesse McArdell, Midwest Senior Government Relations Manager at the National Marine Manufacturers Association. "The state Capitol served as a stunning setting for our member companies to showcase their boats and products to all attendees. Special thanks to Katherine Andrews of the Arkansas Office of Outdoor Recreation for inviting NMMA and collaborating with us to enhance the boating industry's presence in Arkansas over the years."
