Inaugural Progressive Insurance Chicago In-Water Boat Show Makes Splash

CHICAGO (June 12, 2012) – With ideal warm weather, extensive opportunities to get on the water, and a new state-of-the-art marina, the inaugural Progressive Insurance Chicago In-Water Boat Show, which took place June 7-10 in downtown Chicago, made waves across the Chicagoland area, attracting 6,607 visitors and spurring summer sales for the regional industry.

“The new venue at 31st Street Harbor, show attractions and the summer timing created a unique chance to attract and educate new boaters, showcasing the boating lifestyle in an idyllic waterfront environment in the urban setting of downtown Chicago,” noted Keith Ogulnick, show manager. “The Progressive Insurance Chicago In-Water Boat Show has the potential to be a staple event for the marine industry, Midwesterners, and the city of Chicago. We’re excited to see what’s in store for 2013.”

The 2012 Progressive Insurance Chicago In-Water Boat Show showcased more than 100 boats on-land and in-water, featured dozens of accessory, technology and travel booths, and on-water experiential features such as paddle boarding and complimentary boating courses for new and experienced boaters.

Several exhibitors from the show reported a positive first-time experience and sales from the event.
“We saw lots of qualified prospects and talked to many interested boaters. I definitely see the growth potential for the show. We’ll be back,” said Greg Allen, Everglades Boats.
“This is a magnificent harbor and place for a boat show – the perfect venue to showcase our product lines. We sold boats and through diligent follow up, we should sell additional units,” echoed Michelle English, Skipper Buds.
