Progressive Insurance Miami International Boat Show Announces 2015 Innovation Awards Call for Entries

CHICAGO – December 8, 2015 – The National Marine Manufacturers Association (NMMA) announced today entries are being accepted for the 2015 Progressive® Insurance Miami International Boat Show® Innovation Awards, the marine industry’s most prestigious honor for product excellence. Winners will be announced at the annual Industry Breakfast Thursday, February 12th at the Miami Beach Convention Center from 7:30-9:30am.

Innovation Awards are judged by Boating Writers International (BWI) in recognition of exceptionally innovative new consumer marine products, and will be on display throughout the show February 12-16, 2015 in Miami, FL at the show’s three locations – Miami Beach Convention Center, Sea Isle Marina and Miamarina at Bayside. New for 2015:

  • Entrants are required to submit a short video that demonstrates or explains the innovative nature of the product. 
  • All participants will get free inclusion and recognition in the official show guide.
  • Innovation Awards’ winner recognition on the Miami Boat Show website year round.
 
NMMA and BWI will recognize up to 31 new products, plus one Environmental Award. Exhibiting companies may submit products for consideration in the following categories:
  • Boat Care and Maintenance (coatings, chemicals, paints, finishes, additives, oils and tools)
  • Consumer Electronics, Mobile Applications and Software
  • Consumer Safety Equipment
  • Deck Equipment (Rigging, rope, anchoring equipment, boat covers, canvas work, T-tops/arches, stainless work, mooring gear, steering mechanisms and wheels, exterior and underwater lighting, BBQs, blocks, winches/winch handles, screens, vents, etc.)
  • Docking and Fendering Equipment (owner installed docks, boatwhips, boatlifts, davits, cranes, fenders or fendering systems, dock lights and dock-mounted accessories and hardware, etc.)
  • Fishing Equipment, Gear & Tackle
  • Furnishings & Interior Parts (appliances, furniture, lighting, textiles, galley, etc.)
  • Mechanical & Electrical Systems (AC/DC onboard and shore power systems, batteries, control apparatus, battery management tools, inverters, chargers, air conditioning, heating, plumbing, ventilation, pumps, tanks and fuel systems, solar panels, etc.)
  • Personal Gear, Soft Goods (clothing, footwear, etc.)
  • Trailer, Parts and Trailer Accessories
  • Watersport Equipment
  • Alternate Drive Technology (pods, stern drives)
  • Electric Motor/ Battery Powered Propulsion (hybrids only)
  • Inboard Engines
  • Outboard Engines (including trolling, propane and electric motors)
  • Propulsion Equipment & Parts (gauges, trim tabs, propellers, thrusters, etc.)
  • Small fishing craft: Fiberglass and Aluminum Bass Boats, Bay and Flat Boats
  • Cabin Cruisers and Yachts
  • Center Console/ Walkaround Fishing Boats
  • Cuddy Cabin and Bowrider Boats
  • Deck Boats
