An Illinois Senate bill, S.B.2520 would increase fees for Class 1 and Class 2 watercraft application fees. A Class 1 watercraft application fee would increase from $18 to $28, while a Class 2 watercraft application fee would increase from $50 to $60. Class 1 watercraft are all watercraft less than 16 feet in length, except non-powered vessels. Class 2 watercraft are all watercraft 16 feet or more but less than 26 feet in length, except non-powered vessels. This bill also changes the expiration date for certificate of number transfers from June 30 to September 30, certificates will then be invalid after October 15. S.B.2520 requires a certificate of title for all watercraft over 21 feet in length. This bill is currently awaiting action in the Illinois Senate Transportation Committee.
