2022 U.S. Statistical Abstract: Cruiser, Watersport, Fishing Boat & Trailer Sales Trend Report Now Available

The latest sales trends report for cruisers, watersports, fishing boats and trailers, part of NMMA’s 2022 U.S. Recreational Boating Statistical Abstract, is now available. The report examines retail unit sales for each category and by application.

Following two years of extraordinary record growth, sales of new cruisers, watersport and fishing boats began normalizing to pre-pandemic levels in 2022. As a result, unit sales of new fishing boats, which make up almost one-third of the boating market, declined 18.7% to approximately 84,000 units, new personal watercraft (PWC) retail units, the largest product in the watersport segment, experienced a 12.6% sales decline in 2022 compared to relatively flat sales in 2021, and retail unit sales of new boat trailers in 2022 decreased 16% in 2022. Despite the decline in unit sales, the category’s market value remained strong.
