NMMA Submits Comments on Promoting Supply Chain Resiliency

Earlier this week, NMMA submitted comments to the Office of the United States Trade Representative (USTR) as the administration requested comments on promoting supply chain resiliency. NMMA is supportive of efforts strengthening supply chains, creating more sustainable opportunities, and ensuring resiliency in the face of shocks to the system.

The USTR requested comments to help craft “a new approach to trade and investment policy that promotes supply chain resilience.” The notice references the impact the COVID-19 pandemic had on supply chain disruptions, causing logjams of supplies, volatile pricing, and product shortages – all of which impacted the marine industry.

In its comments, NMMA highlighted the industry’s resiliency and innovation, noting “While supply chain disruptions and backlogs lasted for some time, our industry strategically managed production and inventory pipelines, remaining innovative and agile to build upon the momentum of Americans prioritizing outdoor recreation experiences, like boating.” NMMA added several comments regarding dedicated trade and investment policy towards key sectors within the recreational marine industry.

NMMA will continue monitoring the progress of how the comments help shape future administration policy initiatives addressing supply chain, trade, and investment policies. For more information, please contact NMMA director of federal government relations, Clay Crabtree at [email protected].
