Discover Boating Atlanta Boat Show Hosts Georgia State Legislative Committee Members

In partnership with the Georgia state legislature, NMMA hosted a bicameral committee meeting focused on the economic impacts of boating and the Discover Boating Atlanta Boat Show with members of the Georgia General Assembly in attendance. The meeting featured speakers from the National Marine Manufacturers Association, Skiers Choice Dealership and Best in Boating.

Recreational boating has a $7.8 billion economic impact in Georgia and supports more than 670 businesses and 27,000 jobs.

“We must be vigilant on keeping over-regulation and government over-reach out of the marine industry,” said State Representative Ron Stephens, (R-164) Chairman of the House Economic Development and Tourism Committee. “We have to lead with good intention and appreciate the opportunity to be at the Discover Boating Atlanta Boat Show and hear directly from our state’s marine businesses.”

“The Atlanta Boat Show is an incredible platform for people to experience and learn about boating. Its invaluable for our industry. Not just for dealers like us, but manufacturers, service providers, marinas, and other related businesses benefit. It provides us with a venue to cross-promote all of our divisions and showcase our brand to a broader audience,” said William Archer, director of boat rentals Best in Boating.

“Thank you to Chairman Stephens and fellow committee members for taking the time to join us at the Discover Boating Atlanta boat show and learn more about its importance to the economy and the challenges facing our industry,” said Ben Murray, director of state government affairs at NMMA.

The information session was followed by a tour of the Discover Boating Atlanta Boat show, held at the Georgia World Congress from January 9- January 13.
