Micro-Grants Available for Hurricane Helene Recovery Efforts from Outdoor Recreation Roundtable
The Outdoor Recreation Roundtable (ORR) has launched its Rebuilding and Recovery Micro-Grant Program to support communities impacted by Hurricane Helene. These grants, ranging from $5,000 to $10,000, aim to assist organizations and volunteer groups in restoring recreation sites across North Carolina, Tennessee, Virginia, South Carolina, Florida, and Georgia.
Outdoor recreation plays a vital role in local economies, generating billions in economic impact and supporting hundreds of thousands of jobs. However, the devastation left by Hurricane Helene has placed a heavy burden on many communities.
“Outdoor recreation is a cornerstone of our nation’s quality of life, and when natural disasters like Hurricane Helene strike, it’s our communities that are left to pick up the pieces,” said Jessica Wahl Turner, President of Outdoor Recreation Roundtable. “These micro-grants are designed to support local organizations and volunteers that are leading the way in restoring and revitalizing the outdoor spaces that are vital to the local economies and health, well-being, and connection to nature.”
Grant applications are open from March 5 – April 2 via this link. Boating industry stakeholders and organizations engaged in cleanup and restoration efforts are encouraged to apply. Grants are expected to be announced by the end of April.
